NJ online casinos banked a total of $20,567,625 in October, a .9% increase from the previous month and a 23.4% increase year-over-year, according to data released by the state Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) on Tuesday.
The state’s three poker licensees contributed $1,934,145 to the total, a 1.7% month-over-month increase, while casino games accounted for $18,633,480. The total sum is just over a million dollars shy of reaching the all-time industry record of $21.7 million, and marks the eighth consecutive month the industry has grossed over $20 million.
Golden Nugget, partnered with playMGM, Play SugarHouse and Betfair, was once again the dominant force, raking in $6,138,184 in total revenue, a 7.5% bump from its previous month’s take. Caesars, Resorts and Tropicana-allied casinos posted wins nearly identical to their September numbers, reporting $2,786,434, $2,694,975 and $3,461,476 respectively.
Borgata, which recently added playMGM and Scores Casino to its team of sites, has not seemed to benefit from the entrance of the new entities as of yet. On both the casino and poker side, the licensee experienced its third month of revenue decreases.
It’s all but certain that Golden Nugget will close out the year with the highest iGaming revenue numbers in the state. With October included, the licensee has banked $56.2 million so far in 2017. Borgata comes in a distant second with $39.9 million, with Resorts taking the third spot at $36.2 million.
NJ online gambling sites have won a total of $204,238,120 this year and forked over $35,741,671 in tax revenue to the state.
Garden State online poker sites banked $1,934,145 in October, a 1.7% increase from the $1,902,249 they reported the previous month. Even so, the industry experienced a 19.1% revenue drop as compared with the same period last year.
PokerStars was the sole driver of the month’s overall increase, banking 10.4% more than it did in September, for a total of $781,948.
Borgata, which was expected to enjoy a revenue bump due to the addition of two new sites to its network, actually posted a revenue decrease for the third month in a row. Caesars poker sites, which include 888 and WSOP.com, have also been on downward three-month trend, taking in $525,331 last month, over $35,000 less than they did in September.
PokerStars leads the way in poker revenue for the year with $8,310,899, with Borgata taking the second spot with $6,290,814 and Caesars in third with $5,910,888. Stars retains a 40% share of the market, with Borgata sites taking 32% and Caesars’ partners holding 27%.
The state’s poker sites have raked in $20,512,601 this year and raised $3,589,705 in tax revenue for NJ government coffers.
