While there are currently around 25 progressive slots offered at NJ online casinos, one title, Divine Fortune, has stood out from the pack, delivering nearly all of the big progressive jackpot wins of 2017.
According to data recently provided by the state Division of Gaming Enforcement, the slot has paid out at least $882,937 in major jackpots since May, nearly half of which came in September alone.
Divine Fortune was developed by Swedish gambling software maker NetEnt and introduced in New Jersey in January of this year. But even with less than a year in operation, the slot is already the progressive with the most frequent big hits of any other jackpot slot in New Jersey online gambling history.
In total, six players have walked away with huge scores after hitting it big on the title, while Wonderland and Loot’EnKhamun, its two closest competitors, have only been triggered two times each in their entire run.
The largest Divine Fortune payout came in August to a lucky player on Golden Nugget, who banked $271,268. The sum is the heftiest progressive slot payout of 2017 and the third highest in the industry’s history.
Harrah’s Millionaire Genie, which was hit for $1.33 million in 2014, still holds the record for the top payout of all time. That record could be eclipsed at any time, however, by any of the slots connected to the Big Series Jackpot at Borgata affiliated sites, which currently sits at $2.18 million.
While some jackpot slots, like Virgin’s Deal or No Deal, are exclusive to specific brands, several Garden State gaming sites carry the popular NetEnt title. So far, however, all of the progressive’s big payouts have come from sites licensed through Golden Nugget – two at Betfair, one at SugarHouse and three at Golden Nugget Casino itself.
The high rate of hits at Golden Nugget isn’t surprising, considering that the site is preferred by many of the state’s highrollers, as evidenced by its players’ high rates of play documented on the site’s leaderboards. While the progressive jackpot can be hit on any coin denomination, the bigger the bet, the better chance of winning it all. More highrollers means more max bets and more players triggering the top prize.
Below are the top six Divine Fortune payouts of 2017.
Divine Fortune doesn’t just offer the chance to trigger a large progressive, but boasts other exciting and engaging features like Falling Wilds, expanding Wild on Wilds and a free spins bonus which maxes out at 12 free spins.
The main event, of course, are the game’s three jackpots, the Minor, Major and Mega Jackpots. During the base game, keep an eye out for the Bonus Coin symbols, which are collected in a jar to the right of the reel set when they fall. Once three or more have been collected, players are taken to the Jackpot Bonus Game, where they’ll have the chance to take home one of the game’s jackpots.
Once this round is activated, the Bonus Coins collected are randomly placed on the reels. The reels are then spun, giving players a chance to fill more reel positions with Bonus Coins. If one entire row becomes completely filled with Coins, the Minor Jackpot is triggered. If two rows are filled, the Major Jackpot is awarded. These two jackpots are not progressives, but static, and scale depending on the size of the bet.
If all three rows are filled with Bonus Coins, the Mega Jackpot is triggered, awarding the progressive amount displayed above the reel set, and paying out a potentially life-changing amount of cash to the lucky winner.
In general, jackpot slots cater to players who favor big wins over the smaller, more frequent payouts seen in standard slots. Divine Fortune, however, provides plenty of excitement aside from its progressive, with its free spins bonus and Falling Wilds features. With that in mind, and with the addition of its sleek design and professional soundtrack, nearly any type of slots player can find something to love about this NetEnt title.
